Pittsburgh is a neighborhood in South Atlanta, founded in 1883 by formerly enslaved people with housing built around railroad repair shops. The smoke from the rail yards was similar to that produced by the steel mills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, resulting in the neighborhood’s name.
Flash forward almost 140 years, Pittsburgh Yards, a mixed use development right on the BeltLine is created on a 31 acre parcel of what used to be a trucking terminal. The development currently has office/coworking and multifamily spaces available for rent, as well as an amphitheater and kitchen to host events. There is much more to come in the next phases of development that I’m really looking forward to.
