You may remember a couple of months ago I wrote that Amazon’s developer had a 150+ acre site on the 300 acre CSX rail yards, ‘Tilford Yards’, under contract. Well, they just closed on it! The land is just north of Westside Park and Bellwood Quarry. From what we know now, it will be used by the tech giant as a large distribution center.
All parties involved are being particularly low-key, but I would imagine in the next few weeks there will be a press release with their plans. There is
no question this will bring numerous jobs to the city; I hope there will also be mixed use development, green infrastructure and public amenities. We’ll hopefully know soon.
