Lenox Place/Adair Park
Lenox Place is a historic neighborhood founded in 1905, making it one of the first subdivisions in Atlanta. The neighborhood borders Downtown Decatur and sits between W Ponce and W Howard. It’s got one of the Metro area’s largest dog parks, Adair Park, which Coco and I used to practically live at while she was a puppy!
It’s a short walk to Decatur Square, Olmsted’s Deepdene Park and Oakhurst. I lived on Drexel for a couple years, it’s a very tight community and there is a big artist presence, which reminds me of my hometown Asheville.
The neighborhood frequently hosts block parties, having been the VP of LPNA (neighborhood association), I think it’s one of, if not the most underrated neighborhoods, but most of the residents almost prefer it like that.
There is a mix of housing and architecture which helps to give the neighborhood it’s charm, from du, tri, quadraplexes and even apartment buildings, but mostly cute bungalows. The neighborhood takes great pride in their gardening skills, having been the home of master gardener Ryan Gainey. The homes were built for original residents to easily access the streetcar line, which is now Howard Ave, to Downtown Atlanta.
Area Attractions and Amenities
Downtown Decatur
Downtown Decatur has a ton to offer, I enjoy the breweries and hanging out on the square. Siam Thai is one of my favorite restaurants in Decatur, as well as White Bull, Brickstore, and many more.
Mary Gay House
Decatur is older than Atlanta, and home to a ton of Georgia's history. The Mary Gay house is in Lenox Place.
Adair Dog Park
The park has a playground, soccer field, and dog park that people drive hours to take their fur babies to.
Saint Thomas More Catholic Church and School
The church was built in 1948 and has been a part of the community ever since.
Art Community
Lenox Place is a celebrated community of artists.
Walkable
Lenox Place is a short walk to so much, Downtown Decatur, Olmsted Lanier Parks, Oakhurst Village and much more.
